Create a volume

A Block Storage volume is a persistent NVMe disk that lives independently of your servers. Once created, it can be attached to any IBEE Solutions server in the same region.

Before you begin

  • An active IBEE Solutions organization with a verified account (Verify your account)
  • KYC verification completed — Block Storage requires full account verification
  • Sufficient wallet credits — the platform checks your billing state before creating a volume (Billing and usage)

If your account shows a Limited Access banner, complete KYC verification to unlock full access to Block Storage.

Create a volume

1

Open Block Storage

In the portal sidebar, click Block Storage under Infrastructure.

If you have no volumes yet, the page shows a No block volumes yet empty state with an + Add Volume button. Otherwise, click + Add Volume in the top right.

2

Choose a storage type

Under Storage Type, select NVMe SSD (marked Recommended) — high-performance NVMe storage. Standard HDD is shown as Coming Soon and can’t be selected yet.

3

Choose a site

Under Site, click the card for the location you want. Each card shows the location name and its site code.

The volume can only be attached to servers in the same location. Pick the site of the server you intend to attach to.

4

Set the volume size

Under Volume Size, use the slider, the quick-size buttons, or Custom Size to enter an exact value. The minimum is 10 GB; the maximum and the quick sizes come from the storage plan for the chosen site (currently up to 2,000 GB).

Performance depends on the size you pick. The Performance row in the summary shows the tier for the current size:

TierTypical profile
StandardSmaller volumes — about 5,000 IOPS and 125 MiB/s
High PerformanceLarger volumes (above 500 GB) — about 10,000 IOPS and 400 MiB/s

The exact thresholds and figures come from the storage plan and are shown in the portal as you change the size.

The price panel shows the per-GB rate (size x rate/GB) and the estimated monthly and hourly cost. Volumes are billed per GB provisioned per month.

5

Name the volume

Under Volume Details, enter a Volume Name — the display name for the volume in the portal.

  • At least 3 characters
  • Lowercase letters, numbers, and hyphens only
  • Example: my-db-volume, redis-data, web-uploads
6

Create the volume

Check the summary (Storage Type, Location, Size, Performance, Volume Name) and click Create Volume. The platform first runs a billing check against your organization’s wallet. If it doesn’t pass, an error explains why (for example, insufficient wallet balance) — add credits and try again.

A toast confirms Volume “{name}” is being created, and the portal opens the new volume’s detail page. The volume shows Creating and then Ready within a few seconds.

Volume details

Click any volume in the list to open its detail page. It has two tabs, Overview and Mount Instructions. The Overview tab shows:

FieldDescription
Volume NameThe name you entered.
SizeProvisioned capacity.
ClassStorage class — Balanced for the standard NVMe tier.
LocationThe site the volume lives in.
ReplicasNumber of replicas the platform keeps.
CreatedCreation timestamp.
Volume IDUnique identifier, with a copy button.

Below the details is the attachment section. A new volume shows an Attach to Server button; once attached, the section is titled Attached To.

Delete a volume

1

Unmount and detach

Unmount the volume inside the guest, then detach it in the portal (Detach a volume). The Delete button on the volume’s detail page refuses attached volumes with “Detach this volume from all servers before deleting.”

2

Delete

Click Delete in the top right of the volume’s detail page, or open the volume’s actions menu in the list and choose Delete. The Delete Volume dialog warns that all data will be permanently erased. Click Delete to confirm.

Deleting a volume is permanent and cannot be undone. If you delete a still-attached volume from the list’s actions menu, the dialog first asks you to confirm I have unmounted this volume inside the server before deleting.

Troubleshooting

Billing error when clicking Create Volume The billing check didn’t pass — for example, your wallet balance doesn’t cover the volume, or billing needs attention. Add credits or settle outstanding usage under Billing, then try again.

Limited Access banner visible Complete KYC verification to unlock full Block Storage access.

Usage limit reached If the create form shows a “Limit reached” indicator, your organization has hit its block storage quota. Click the link to request an increase under Billing → Usage Limits.

“Lowercase letters, numbers, and hyphens only” error Volume names can’t contain spaces, dots, underscores, or uppercase characters, and must be at least 3 characters. Use a hyphen-separated lowercase name.

Volume stuck in creating state Refresh the page. If the volume does not reach Ready within a few minutes, contact IBEE support.
