# Objects

> Upload, download, list, and delete objects in IBEE Object Storage buckets — from the portal or any S3-compatible client.

An **object** is a single file plus its metadata, stored in a bucket. Each object is identified by its **key** — the path-like name within the bucket.

## What you can do with objects

#### [Object Locking](/docs/infrastructure/object-storage/objects/object-locking)

Mark objects immutable for compliance or ransomware protection.

#### [Presigned URLs](/docs/infrastructure/object-storage/objects/presigned-urls)

Generate time-limited URLs for upload or download — no shared credentials.

## Object basics

| Property          | Detail                                                                            |
| ----------------- | --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Key** | The object's name within the bucket. Up to 1,024 bytes, UTF-8. |
| **Size**          | Up to 5 TiB per object. See [Limits](/docs/infrastructure/object-storage/limits). |
| **Type**          | MIME type set on upload (e.g. `image/jpeg`, `application/pdf`).                   |
| **Storage class** | `Standard`.                                                                       |
| **Metadata** | System metadata (size, last-modified, ETag) plus optional custom headers. |

## Upload from the portal

You can upload, download, and delete objects directly from the IBEE Solutions portal.

### 1. Open a bucket

Go to `portal.ibee.ai/organizations/{orgId}/workspaces/{workspaceId}/object-storage` and click a bucket name from the list.

### 2. Upload

The **Objects** tab has two action buttons in the top right: **Create Folder** and **Upload**.

Click **Upload**. A drag-and-drop area appears.

![IBEE Object Storage upload interface](/docs/_fern-img/26cf7d39d6bbb119085e427e20a67871cb3c0951093817daa1e14b51f48a409b.webp)![IBEE Object Storage upload interface](/docs/_fern-img/7ac84a1635f5813b67cd1c7a00161eebbe52055aa7eb989bcd852657e370341a.webp)

Choose one of:

* **Drag and drop** files onto the upload area.
* Click **Select Files** to browse and select files from your device.

> **Info**
>
> The portal accepts files up to **300 MB** each. Larger files are rejected with *"Files larger than 300 MB must be uploaded via the API"* — upload them with an [S3-compatible client](#upload-from-an-s3-compatible-client) instead.

### 3. Confirm

Uploaded files appear in the objects list with their **Type**, **Storage Class**, **Size**, and **Modified** date.

## Object list columns

| Column        | Description                                                                        |
| ------------- | ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| OBJECTS | Object or folder name |
| TYPE          | MIME type (e.g. `image/jpeg`, `image/png`, `application/octet-stream`) or `Folder` |
| STORAGE CLASS | Storage class (e.g. `Standard`)                                                    |
| SIZE          | Object size — shown as `–` for folders                                             |
| MODIFIED | Last modified date and time |
| ACTIONS | Download + delete for objects; open link + delete for folders |

## Download

Click the **download icon** next to the object in the list. Or click the object name to open its detail page and click **Download** in the top right.

## Delete

Click the **delete icon** next to the object in the list. Or open the detail page and click **Delete**.

> **Warning**
>
> A bucket must be empty before it can be deleted. To remove everything at once, use [Empty bucket](/docs/infrastructure/object-storage/buckets#empty-a-bucket), then [delete the bucket](/docs/infrastructure/object-storage/buckets#delete-a-bucket).

## Object detail page

Click an object name to open its detail page at `portal.ibee.ai/organizations/{orgId}/workspaces/{workspaceId}/object-storage/{bucket}/{object_name}`.

The **Object Details** card shows:

| Field    | Description                                 |
| -------- | ------------------------------------------- |
| Name     | Object name                                 |
| Size     | Object size                                 |
| Type     | MIME type of the object (e.g. `image/jpeg`) |
| Modified | Last modified date and time |
| Access   | `Public` (with green dot) or `Private`      |

For objects in a public bucket with a Public Access URL, the page also shows the object's **Public Development URL** with a copy button. That URL is rate-limited and not meant for production — see [Bucket policies](/docs/infrastructure/object-storage/buckets/bucket-policies#public-access).

Image files are previewed inline under the **Object Preview** section.

Available actions in the top-right: **Download**, **Delete**.

## Upload from an S3-compatible client

Use the organization's S3 endpoint and an [API credential](/docs/infrastructure/object-storage/api-tokens) with **Object Read & Write** or **Admin Read & Write** scope.

```bash
# Single file
aws --endpoint-url https://{workspaceId}.blob.ibeestorage.com \
    s3 cp report.pdf s3://my-bucket/reports/2026-05.pdf
# Whole directory
aws --endpoint-url https://{workspaceId}.blob.ibeestorage.com \
    s3 sync ./build/ s3://my-bucket/site/
# List
aws --endpoint-url https://{workspaceId}.blob.ibeestorage.com \
    s3 ls s3://my-bucket/reports/
# Delete
aws --endpoint-url https://{workspaceId}.blob.ibeestorage.com \
    s3 rm s3://my-bucket/reports/2026-05.pdf
```

Files larger than 100 MB are automatically uploaded as multipart by the AWS CLI and SDK. See [Limits](/docs/infrastructure/object-storage/limits) for size and rate caps.

## Folder structure

Object Storage has no real folder hierarchy — only keys with `/` separators. The portal renders prefixes as folders. Use prefixes for logical grouping (e.g. `logs/2026/05/`, `users/123/avatar.png`) and pair with [Lifecycle rules](/docs/infrastructure/object-storage/buckets/lifecycle-management) scoped by prefix to manage retention per "folder".

## Troubleshooting

**Upload button not visible**
Ensure you are on the **Objects** tab inside a bucket, not on the main Object Storage list page.

**File not appearing after upload**
Refresh the page. If the file still does not appear, try uploading again.

**Cannot delete bucket**
The bucket still contains objects. Run [Empty bucket](/docs/infrastructure/object-storage/buckets#empty-a-bucket) first. Buckets with Object Lock enabled can't be emptied or deleted.

**Upload rejected: "Files larger than 300 MB must be uploaded via the API"**
The portal upload limit is 300 MB per file. Use an [S3-compatible client](#upload-from-an-s3-compatible-client) for larger files.
